Downtown Pensacola has a wealth of wonderful dining experiences. One of the latest to join the hustle and bustle of this area is SaBai Thai- a cozy, modern space in the heart of downtown. The restaurant has been around for years at their location just across the bay in Gulf Breeze, but their jump to downtown has bolstered their popularity as one of the best Thai places in town.
We started off with a Thai tea- refreshing and sweet.
The appetizers we chose were the satay chicken (grilled on skewers with a tangy, peanut sauce) and the vegan coconut soup. Shout out to those that prefer to eat more plant based- SaBai has a whole vegan section of their menu! In addition, you can choose the spice level of certain dishes, on a 1-5 scale. We chose a 3 which was just the right amount of kick but was subdued by the sweet coconut.
For entrees, we picked the chef’s special curry, at a spice level of 3, and the Kee Mao or “drunken noodles” with vegetables & tofu at a nicely spiced level 4 heat. Both were superb, and too large to eat in one sitting.
I would highly recommend this spot for a date night or an intimate night with friends. It is small, so be prepared to wait, but it fully worth it!
